Ford's FE-series big-block motors were well known for power and performance, but in the 60's , Ford was doing everything they could to beat the competition. In order to push the 427 to its' limits, they developed the Single OverHead Cam (SOHC) version of the motor, which was a monster on the circuit and the drag strip.
