Perched on a pile of angular rocks, an antlered stag stands in profile and turns its head to look straight at the viewer. Fur along the throat is softly textured. The background stays almost empty, broken only by a few faint, wavy lines that suggest distant rolling hills, and the square panel has slightly chipped, irregular edges.
