The Blyde River Canyon in South Africa's Mpumalanga province is one of the largest green canyons in the world — a dramatic gash in the Drakensberg escarpment filled with lush subtropical vegetation. The canyon runs for about 26 kilometres along the Blyde River, today called the Motlatse, dropping up to 750 metres to the water.
