Finds the centre of a dowel, a tube or a turning blank in two strokes. Seat the round stock in the 90-degree V, draw a line through the slot in the head, turn the stock a quarter turn and draw again -- the two lines cross on the exact centre. The slot is 2.6 mm, wide enough for a pencil lead or a fine marker, and both arms carry raised graduations every 10 mm so you can also use it to check a diameter.
