Elbow Hafted Stone Adze, Neolithic Tool Replica

A Neolithic-style adze made from a bent, elbow-shaped wooden handle. The short arm is wrapped with lashing that holds a ground stone blade set crosswise to the handle, like a hoe, rather than in line with it as on an axe. The handle has a wood-grain texture and a cord-wrapped grip. Adzes were key woodworking tools of the Neolithic, used to shape planks, hollow out dugout canoes and trim timbers for houses.
