A flat, pocket-sized rectangular tin with chamfered corners, a slightly overhanging lid with a raised inset panel and a round raised boss in the centre of the lid. Flat hinged or slip-lid tins were a common way to carry pipe tobacco, rolling tobacco and small items in the early and mid 20th century, and were often carried by soldiers and workers.
