Hermann von Buxhövden, known as the Red Bishop of Tartu, was a striking figure in the tumultuous times of the Baltic Crusades during the 13th century. Born into the ecclesiastical circles of medieval Livonia, he was far more than a man of the cloth. Clad in crimson, his robes earned him the "Red Bishop" moniker, yet it was his iron will and martial prowess that truly set him apart.
