Mishipeshu Underwater Panther

Mishipeshu (also known as Mishibizhiw or Gichi-anami'e-bizhiw) is one of the most powerful and significant mythical beings in the mythology of the Indigenous peoples of the Great Lakes region—particularly the Anishinaabe, Ojibwe, Odawa, Potawatomi, and Cree. Its name literally translates as "the Great Lynx," but in English-language literature, it is often referred to as the "Underwater Panther."
