Moon relief map — lunar topography wall panel

Design story and technique The Moon as seen from Earth, reconstructed as a tiled data relief. This panel uses NASA's LOLA global elevation model: each Voronoi cell takes the median elevation of the ground it covers and is assigned to one of six elevation bands. Bands determine both which colour group a tile belongs to and how far the tile projects from the wall; vertical relief is intentionally exaggerated so surface features read clearly by eye and touch.
