A giant stone head inspired by the summit of Mount Nemrut, 2,134 metres above the Euphrates valley. In the 1st century BC, King Antiochus I of Commagene built himself a tomb-sanctuary on the top of Nemrut Dağı: an artificial peak of loose stone, flanked by terraces of colossal seated statues — the king himself, lions, eagles and gods that blend Greek and Persian traditions, crowned with tall conical tiaras.
