Phyllotaxis Bloom – Faceted Scale Bud Sculpture

An abstract desk sculpture grown by the rule plants use. 233 faceted scales are laid on a teardrop body along a golden-angle (137.5°) spiral, so the familiar Fibonacci parastichies appear on their own. At the base the scales hug the body like a closed bud; towards the top, and towards one lit side, they open outward up to 50°, as if the bud were caught in the moment it starts to bloom from one side.
