Pointe du Hoc

Pointe du Hoc is a fortified site located on the Normandy coast in France, famous for being the scene of one of the most heroic assaults of the Normandy Landings on June 6, 1944. There, American Rangers scaled treacherous cliffs under enemy fire to destroy German artillery batteries that were threatening the Utah and Omaha beaches. Today, the site bears the scars of war with its numerous bomb craters and ruined bunkers, making it an essential historical memorial.
