I made my take Jörmungandr: The World Serpent from Norse Mythology. He's one of Loki's three children, and is also known as the Midgard Serpent. Jörmungandr lives in the oceans, and is said to be large enough to encircle the entire globe, and bite his own tail. The image of a snake or dragon eating it's own tail is often a representation of the circle of life.
