A miniature clothes press made from a sturdy frame: two upright posts on a flat base, a heavy top beam and a middle crossbeam. A thick coiled screw runs between the top and middle beams, and below it a rod drives a flat pressing board down towards the base, where folded cloth would be placed. Screw presses were used in the Roman world to press folded garments and linens flat.
