A snowman stencil has one trap in it, and it is the scarf. Draw the scarf as a slot running right across the neck and you have cut the head off the body: the head becomes a separate island, drops out of the plate, and the stencil is ruined. Here the scarf is two slots that stop 6 mm short of the centreline, leaving a deliberate bridge of material behind it - you get the scarf, the head stays attached.
