Three points on a round body, joined by straight tangent flanks. Unlike the soft three-lobe knob the fingers find a stop at once - the grip for things that must be done up firmly. For the 1/4 inch shaft with the deep flat, 3.96 mm remaining. Careful: 1/4 inch D-shafts come in two shapes.
