A footed incense burner: a round disc foot and slender stem with a baluster knop support a rounded bowl pierced with holes, capped by a domed, perforated lid with a rim and a small knob finial. Modelled as one piece. The thymiaterion was the Greek incense burner, used in temples, at altars and in homes. Smouldering incense sat in the bowl, and the pierced lid let the fragrant smoke escape.
