Eight flats. Twelve would have been invisible - the faces would sit less than one percent below the circle. Eight sit at 92.4 percent, and that you can see and feel. Takes a DIN 934 hex nut M5 from the back - the thread is steel, not printed plastic, so it survives being done up hard. The bolt runs right through, so its length does not matter.
